The terms of play.

Who we are

Short Pencil is made by DM Solutions and Development LLC ("we", "us"). By using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

The membership

• A free week, then monthly. Starting new rounds takes a Short Pencil membership: $5.99 a month in the United States, or the price shown in your app store. New members get the first 7 days free.
• Paid through your app store. You subscribe with your Apple Account or Google account, and the App Store or Google Play takes the payment. We never see your card or payment details.
• Renews until you cancel. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the free week ends, it becomes a paid membership, charged when the week is up. After that it renews each month, and you're charged within the 24 hours before each renewal, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it.
• Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app doesn't cancel the membership. When you cancel, you keep the membership until the end of the period you've paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
• Price changes are announced ahead of time through your app store, as its rules require, and never apply to a period you've already paid for.

Your scorecards, with or without a membership

Everything you've written is yours. Without a membership you can still open, save, share and back up every card you've kept; only starting new rounds needs it. A round already in progress can always be finished.

Course information

Pars, yardages, handicaps and ratings come from public course directories and from clubs' own published scorecards, and they can be out of date or wrong. Check them against the club's card. For competitions and handicap records, the club's own card and officials always have the final word.

Using the app fairly

Please don't misuse Short Pencil or the services behind it: don't try to get around the membership, overload or probe our servers, copy course data from them in bulk, or use automatic card emails to send anything to anyone but yourself.

The app as it is

We work hard to make Short Pencil reliable and beautiful, but it's provided as it is, without warranties beyond those the law requires. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you've paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Keep a backup of rounds that matter to you (Settings, Save a backup).

App Store downloads

If you downloaded Short Pencil from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies as well.

Changes

If these terms change, we'll update the date above, and for meaningful changes we'll say so in the app before they apply to you.
